More information

The starting point Lenzbaueralm can be reached via the Salzkammergut federal highway B 145 exit Kainisch and further over the Radlingpass (direction Bad Aussee). At the highest point on the Radling Pass, follow the Lenzbauernalm sign.

This scenic hike runs across the Hinterbergertal valley, along a sunny high-altitude trail between Kainisch and Tauplitz. The trail leads through the heart of the Ausseerland region on easily accessible forest, meadow, and woodland paths, passing traditional alpine pastures, historic viewpoints, and peaceful natural spots.

Information boards along the route provide interesting facts about the nature, culture and history of the valley and invite you to discover the hiking area in the Totes Gebirge mountains with new eyes.

The starting point is at information board 1 at the Lenzbauernalm. From there, the trail climbs gently on wide paths to the Bauernhalt (information board 2), across the Mischenirwiese meadow and through a varied landscape of forests and alpine pastures.

After a short descent, the trail leads to the Singerhauserhütte hut with information board 3, which offers an impressive insight into rural life in the Hinterbergertal valley. The hiking trail now continues on flat ground towards Bad Mitterndorf and then follows the signs to the Simonywarte (information board 4).

A short descent through the forest leads to the next ascent to the Brentenmöser-Alm and on to the Bergeralm. From there, the trail descends again to the Furtberg information board (station 5). The final stage leads along a paved side road directly to the center of Tauplitz.

The entire route offers numerous views of the Ausseerland Salzkammergut hiking paradise, making this tour a true nature experience.

Hiking in Ausseerland is as diverse as the landscape itself. Whether panoramic hikes, family hikes in Ausseerland, or guided hikes—in the Totes Gebirge hiking area, you can experience nature intensely.

The free Ausseerland hiking map is available at the tourist office. The hiking map shop offers even more maps and hiking literature.

There is only limited parking available at the Lenzbaueralm. There are additional parking facilities at the Radlingpass.
