Sommeralm-Teichalm Hike
Open
From the Sommeralm to the Teichalm with its high mountain pine moor, through one of the largest low mountain pasture areas in Europe.
The hike begins at the
Stoakoglhütte, which is known for its down-to-earth cuisine, but above all for its alpine breakfast. From there, you head up to the Plankogel, which rewards you for the initial exertions with its panoramic views. If you want to fortify yourself on the way, the
Haberlstall-Alm or the
Stoahandhütte are well worth a visit, especially the fresh food. After a refreshment stop, the route continues to the next summit, the Heulantsch, which connects the Teichalm and the Sommeralm, which together comprise around 125 alpine pastures.
Then it's down towards
Teichalmsee, where you can learn a lot about the flora and fauna of one of the last
mountain pine raised bogs in Austria on the bog nature trail. There are also several establishments that invite you to recharge your batteries after the hike, such as the
Latschenhütte and the
Almgasthof Teichwirt, right by the Teichalmsee. These establishments also tempt you with regional dishes and homemade pastries.
For transportation back to the Stoakoglhütte, we recommend our
SAM shared cab - please order in good time! Alternatively, the hike can also be walked back or combined with the
Almenland hiking trail.
