The neighboring municipalities are Bad Blumau to the north, Großwilfersdorf to the northwest, Söchau to the west, Unterlamm (district of Southeast Styria) to the south, Bad Loipersdorf to the southeast and Rudersdorf (district of Jennersdorf) to the east. The nearest freeway is the A2 Südautobahn (exit Ilz-Fürstenfeld), the nearest airport is Graz (57 kilometers away). The distance to the Hungarian border (near Heiligenkreuz) is 17 kilometers, to Slovenia (border Bonisdorf) it is 31 kilometers.
