Lake Piberstein in Köflach is an impressive bathing lake in the Lipizzanerheimat region, characterised by its size and natural beauty.

The temperatures continue to rise and summer is in full swing. These are the days when one best seeks a quiet spot by the water. But the search has come to an end, as Pibersteiner Lake is the perfect place for that.

For more than four years, Pibersteiner Lake was closed. Thanks to the takeover by the municipality of Köflach with financial support from the state, the area has been accessible to the public again since June 2024. Swimming is permitted at the publicly accessible east beach at one's own risk. A fee is charged for parking vehicles in the parking lot.

The stunning bathing lake in the west of the Graz experience region covers an area of sixteen hectares and is surrounded by a breathtaking mountain panorama and the green meadows of the Lipizzan horses. Ideal for swimmers, sunbathers, and nature lovers, it offers expansive sunbathing lawns and clear water. Whether for relaxing or water sports activities, this lake is a perfect excursion destination for the whole family. With a water surface of around 16 hectares, it is also one of the largest natural swimming pools in Styria. The area for sport and recreation is a relic from mining; where the bathing lake is now located, coal was once extracted in open-pit mining.

Dogs are not allowed in the swimming area. Parking costs € 5.00 by car or € 3.00 by moped or motorcycle. Come by and experience a fantastic day at the lake!
