Colorful graffiti, upcycling art and music acts in Graz and Styria’s urban spaces.
Urban Art Festival Styria transforms Graz and Styria into a vibrant open-air gallery. International street art artists design façades, walls, and spaces – from STUWO StudentCity to the transformer station at Keplerbrücke to the city beach. The festival brings together graffiti, media art, upcycling, and design in an urban environment.
At the center: the seven-story student dormitory, which becomes an art laboratory. Large-scale murals, installations, and workshops are created here during the festival. Starting on the opening day, artists – including Daan Botlek (NL), David Leitner (AT), KJ263 (DE), Jacoba Niepoort (DK), and Katell Gelebart (FR) – work live on new pieces. In addition, there will be meet-and-greets, talks, and participatory activities.
Musically, a diverse program with crossover sounds complements the festival: Sladoled Lovekomet on Styrian pop paths, Balkan and Ukrainian avant-garde beats from Erasmus+ groups, and Dave & the Coverdudes – all genuine talents from Graz. The finale is a grand closing event with a performance, street art presentation, and party at the city beach or, in case of rain, in the basement of the student dormitory.
Speaking of local color: Graz itself becomes part of the artwork. The transformation of everyday places reflects the spirit of Styria – creative and authentic. Urban spaces are used sustainably. Upcycling projects demonstrate that art can also arise from seemingly leftover materials.
By the way: Starting in 2025, the festival will expand to locations like Fladnitz on Teichalm and St. Ruprecht – bringing fresh impulses to the STUWO region. This festival makes leisure in Styria tangible. Art, music, community – all in one place. Events in Graz that showcase real urban culture.
