Quick laps through Graz: At the criterium, cycling meets downtown atmosphere.
On August 30, 2025, the Graz city center belongs to racing bikes: The old town criterium is returning - and for the first time it is part of the Road Cycling League Austria. The route? A 980-meter-long circuit right through the old town. The start and finish are at Café Promenade in Stadtpark, passing by the opera, Burggasse, and Hofgasse – over cobblestones, through narrow alleys, and with a view of historic facades. A course made for excitement and atmosphere.
There will be two races: The women will cover 30 laps, and the men 50 – both for equal prize money. The pace is high, the corners are technical, and the audience is very close. The climb at Burgtor challenges the legs, while the sprint at Opernring excites the crowd. Graz presents itself from a sporty-urban side – with flair, history, and cycling culture.
By the way: The old town criterium has a tradition in Styria. Since 1984, numerous cycling stars have been celebrated here - most recently in 2022 with the victory of Geraint Thomas. The Graz experience region is bringing the spectacle back to the streets.
Public accessibility: Tram 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 I Stop: Hauptplatz
