About the offer
Echophysics: European Center for the History of Physics
Exhibition in Pöllau Castle
"Radiation - The Exposed Man" shows the minds and devices that brought us the knowledge of radiation. The exhibition shows the development of modern physics in text and pictures. Over 600 devices, photos, films and documents, including the complete collection of the original measuring devices of the Vienna Institute for Radium Research and the Styrian Nobel Prize winner for physics, Victor Franz Hess.
See for yourself the craftsmanship of technicians from the last two centuries. During a guided tour, experiments are demonstrated and you can also operate the devices yourself. School groups are welcome, but advance registration is requested.

About the serviceprovider
The European Physical Society (EPS), which has over 100,000 members - physicists from 40 countries - provides ideal support for the project to set up this first European center for the history of physics in Pöllau, Styria, in the green heart of Europe.
Our first European center for the history of physics has set itself the goal of communicating the history of European physics, but also the history of its physicists, to the interested public, based on the national focus on Austria and Styria, in Pöllau Castle. This is to be achieved in a permanent show and in changing special exhibitions of historically valuable physical devices and components. Documentation, images, biographies, films and legacies of physicists as well as didactic presentations of important physical experiments and phenomena supplement the exhibits and place them in their cultural, technical and economic significance. The showpieces, with which outstanding discoveries of modern physics were made, bear witness to the craftsmanship of the craftsmen and technicians of the last two centuries and are still a model for our scientific work today.
The exhibition uses text and images to illustrate the development of modern physics. Whether you are a layman or a physicist, the exhibition offers a wide audience a wealth of interesting and informative facts.
