Penzendorf Chapel

Greinbach

Waypoint for the hiking tour Penzendorf 2, Penzendorf

On November 18, 1995, excavation work and foundation ballasting began at the chapel in Penzendorf. Thanks to the great help of local volunteers and a fundraising campaign, the building was completed after around six months.

St. Bernhard von Aost was chosen as the main patron saint. Other patron saints are St. Elisabeth, St. Florian, the Blessed Virgin Mary and Father Jakob Gapp. The chapel has seating for 80-90 people, a bell disk and an electrically operated bell weighing approx. 135 kg. A small adjoining room also serves as a sacristy and storage space. A baroque statue of the Virgin Mary was loaned by the Hartberg priest Janisch.
