Fishing in the St. Georgen dam

St. Georgen am Kreischberg

This section of water lies picturesquely embedded deep in the valley floor. The Mura flows slowly in the upper section, and quickly towards the end of the reservoir for the 2.5 km to the St. Georgen power plant.

The vegetation provides shady places for both the fish and the "petrijunger" in the summer. Here it is a good idea to try your luck on the water with a bellyboat. Again, the right bank is fully accessible on foot along the paved bike path.

The left side is not fishable everywhere due to rocks and steep shore areas. Far away from the disturbing noise the fisherman can devote himself fully to his passion. The fish stock consists mainly of brown and rainbow trout in all sizes. Here, too, entrances and accesses to the water have been cleared.
